the mission

Making sanctuaries self-sustainable and farm-to-sanctuary transitions profitable and mutually rewarding

The world doesn't have enough sanctuaries for all the farm animals that need shelter. So we need more sanctuaries, and we need to make them self-sustainable beyond the outdated and erratic donations-based model. Farm-to-sanctuary transitions are essential: animals need them to be free, society needs them to show and see that they are possible, and farmers need them to emancipate themselves from animal agriculture. But how can they be funded without relying on insufficient donations or placing the burden of change on the farmers themselves?

EMPATOUR turns animal sanctuaries and farm transitions into a successful high revenue-producing business that helps to shut down animal farms, protect their animals, and make them thriving eco-tourism and veganic farming spaces where former farmers are offered new and better incomeproducing opportunities tied to protecting farm animals and promoting veganism.

Our

Business Model

Whether through the sanctuaries and farm transitions we operate directly partnering with Namigni Animal Sanctuary International, or through the independent sanctuaries we work with, EMPATOUR has 6 revenue streams.

A new

ecotourism

operator

  • The global ecotourism market size was valued at USD 185.87 billion in 2021 and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.2% from 2022 to 2030.
  • EMPATOUR intends to conduct its own ecotourism activities through its direct Namigni network while also functioning as a tour operator for animal sanctuaries and natural reserves around the world.
  • The goal is to create and explore a whole new sector in the ecotourism world that is directly designed to create a positive impact for animal protection and nature conservation sites.

Leveraging our

Success Story

in Colombia

  • Namigni Animal Sanctuary was created in Colombia when the pandemic started. It soon partnered with a reputed lifelong vet surgeon and dairy farmer who took the pioneer step of turning his farm into a sanctuary.
  • Namigni is today Latin America's largest farm animal sanctuary, and it receives on average 100 visitors every weekend who become aware of farm animals and see the amazing individuals they are.
  • As visitors, people pay an entrance fee that helps to replace the income that was once generated by the dairy farm. They participate in an enriching experience where they hear about animal rights and veganism in a friendly and constructive way.

Our Founder

I'm Miguel Aparicio, a Portuguese citizen living in Colombia. I've been a vegan for 25 years.

I'm a crowdfunding and digital marketing expert, founder of Crowdstrat.com, and sponsor of Namigni Animal Sanctuary. I have helped four dairy farms transition away from animal farming in Colombia, and I am currently creating the world's first sanctuary for Spanish Fighting Bulls, the Reserva del Toro Bravo.

As an entrepreneur, I work to create business and financial solutions that can advance the protection of animal rights and a tangible transition towards an economy that leaves animal exploitation behind—in a way that rewardingly engages animal farmers in this major shift.
